New challenges

Dear all, As some of you may know, I have recently left my job at BitLogistics and found a new position with WEC Lines in Rotterdam. I will still follow up what is going on with the SCNi and with BitLogistics from time to time. Any question concerning BitLogistics or VisibleLogistics should therefore be forwarded to Ken Lyon or Nicolas Leroux (both members of the Supply Chain Network too). I wish you all success and I hope to see some of you soon on a trade show or a conference. Continue

On the Benelux Chapter First Meeting

This is a bit of an update on how the SCN Benelux Chapter first meeting went. Sorry for the Benelux members who already got the news... We had particularly interesting exchanges about our respective various activities and fields. We had a good debate about issues we were meeting in our customer's supply chains and how we could help solving them. We of course discussed how we could help each other too, simply by knowing about the others specialties. I also made a product presentation for… Continue

February 12th Press Release

Launching VisibleLogistics, the on-line solution for demanding customers. Where is my stuff? Your customers always want to know where their 'stuff' is. If you have a small business that ships what it sells, or if you are buying from one, this happens all the time: once a shipment has left your premises, it is completely invisible to you or your customers for most of the time. You are depending on the efficiency and good will of a carrier with whom you often have no direct communi… Continue

A maritime revolution?

The Eugen Maersk, eighth and last unit in the current Maersk 'E' series has been christened this week-end at Odense Steel Shipyard. The 15,200 TEUs (twenty foot equivalent units) ship will then bring the Maersk Line’s Asia-Europe AE-7 loop to its full complement. "Ports face enormous hinterland challenges as container growth continues apace", warns Hans Smits, president of Port of Rotterdam Authority. Actually, European ports are already not always large enough to accommodate the fast growing traffic. But their hinterland connections are often lagging behind even more, creating the risk for massive congestion in the coming two or three years. The problem is in no way limited to Europe,… Continue
